Licensing overview

Coin3D is released under a dual licensing model and is available in two editions. Both editions give you full functionality on all supported platforms. Full access to the source code and all available binary packages is provided.

Unless special arrangements have been mad with SIM, it is the Coin Free Edition that is being used.

Coin Professional Edition

Coin Professional Edition is licensed under the Coin Professional Edition License (Coin PEL). The Coin Professional Edition gives you the right to develop proprietary software and the right to support.

Coin Professional Edition includes a continuous right and service and is therefore offered in the form of transparent, annual subscription-based pricing, no royalties.

An evaluation license is available for commercial evaluation.

Coin Free Edition

Coin Free Edition is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL) for Free Software development. The distribution of Coin3D under the GPL is a service for those who develop Free Software libraries or applications.
