Coin3D based EU project approved

The EU has approved the research and development project ARIS*ER, where Systems in Motion is one of the 8 international partners.

The EU has approved the research and development project ARIS*ER, where Systems in Motion is one of the 8 international partners. The 3D visualization in the project will be developed based on Coin3D, SIM Voleon and Coin3D enhancement libraries.

The ARIS*ER project will found several man years of research and development in the field of Augmented Reality in Surgery. A special focus will be on handling very large data sets, and integration with other data types and file formats. SIM will use this opportunity to develop major improvements for SIM Voleon in the coming years.

SIM Voleon is a volume rendering library designed to integrate with Coin3D. It is used for visualizing the internal structure of 3D volume data and is especially suited for petroleum- and medical applications.

The SIM Voleon development project will start in December 2005, and last for 3 years.

Systems in Motion is interested to get in contact with users who have interest in this project, for development of a detailed requirements specification, beta testing and other cooperation. If you are interested in getting involved, please email Mr. Oyvind Rideng.
